2nd Annual Run for Life 5K in Parsippany, New Jersey

PARSIPPANY, NEW JERSEY - The Par-Troy Rotary Club, in conjunction with Mayor Michael M. Luther’s Wellness Campaign, will present the second annual “Run for Life 5K” on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009.

The United States Track & Field Association (USATF-NJ) Grand Prix course is a flat, fast out-and-back through the Mack-Cali business complex located on Campus Drive in Parsippany, New Jersey. Registration opens at 8:30 am, and the race begins at 9:30 am.

Mount Olive Chamber Hosts 24th Legislative District

MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY - The Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce hosted a special meeting on May 27 with representatives from the 24th Legislative District who discussed a variety of important issues related to the current state of business in Mount Olive Township, Morris County and New Jersey.

Bahnuk wins 5k Leprechaun Leap Road Race 2008

MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY – For the second straight year Mark Bahnuk of Hackettstown won the 11th Annual Leprechaun Leap 5k Road Race, sponsored by Picatinny Federal Credit Union, on March 16th. But the real winner was Hackettstown Regional Medical Center’s Joan Knechel Cancer Center.

Despite a chilly day at the International Trade Center, hundreds of participants turned out for the Leprechaun Leap 5K race and helped to raise $2,000 for the Joan Knechel Cancer Center. The International Trade Center Alliance (ITCA) together with the Mount Olive Mayor's Wellness Council hosted this year’s 5k race in Mount Olive, New Jersey.

Tom Quigley, Business Development Manager for Picatinny Federal Credit Union, was elated with the turnout of 462 racers.

“It was a great day all around. It may not have been picture-perfect weather but the runners showed perseverance in giving it their all for such an important cause" noted Tom Quigley. "I know that Picatinny Federal Credit Union is truly proud to be part of this event. In fact, more than 50 percent of our employees volunteered their time to help out. You can’t say enough about the people who work for us. They are community-minded.”

Mark Bahnuk finished the 5k race first in a time of 5:06, 10 seconds better than he did last year. Bahnuk finished just ahead of 15-year old Nicholas Salek of Morris Plains. Budd Lake’s Mark Lorello was third. Glenn Oakley of Blairstown and Jon Harper of Phillipsburg, respectively, finished fourth and fifth.

On the female side, Christine Scheuch of Vernon was first, followed by 12-year old Katlyn Rohsler of Fredon. Laura Furfaro was third, Joelle Fair took fourth, while Mary Sullivan of Succasunna finished fifth.

2008 Municipal Budget and Taxes Presentation

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY - Mayor David Scapicchio will host an information presentation for the public on the 2008 Municipal Budget and Taxes for Mount Olive residents.

The presentation will begin tomorrow at 8:00pm Wednesday March 5, 2008. Residents are encouraged to participate in an open Question & Answers session immediately afterwards.

Mount Olive Chamber Welcomes Mayor

Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce president Lou Nisivoccia (left) welcomes Mayor David Scapicchio and town administrator Bill Sohl.

This event was the Chamber's second annual Breakfast with the Mayor held at Longhorn Steakhouse in the ITC Crossing Shopping Center.

About 40 people came out on January 15th to hear the Mayor reflect on 2007 and update chamber members on what to expect in 2008.

Mount Olive Township Reorganizes for 2008

U.S. Attorney swears in Mayor & Council

MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY - U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie visited Mount Olive Township today to administer the oath of office to Mayor David Scapicchio and council members Phil Tobey, Colleen Labow, and newcomer Alex Roman.

The swearing in ceremony was held in Council Chambers in the Mount Olive Municipal Building at 4:00pm today.

Mayor David Scapicchio(R) was originally sworn to office by U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie after Mayor Richard DeLaRoche(D) was recalled in 2006. This will be Scapicchio's first full four year term as mayor.

Scapicchio and Christie both ran for Morris County Freeholder in 1994, but the duo have been friends since high school.

Councilman Phil Tobey(R) was sworn into his first full four year term. Tobey was appointed by Council to complete the remainder of the unexpired term of Councilman John Biondi in March of 2007. Biondi retired for personal reasons, and endorsed Tobey as his replacement. Tobey was then elected to council during the general election last November.

Councilwoman Colleen Labow(R) was re-elected and sworn into her second four year term.

Newcomer Councilman Silvio "Alex" Roman(R) was sworn into his first four year term replacing Councilman James Buell(D).

Christopher J. Christie was nominated by President George W. Bush to be the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey on December 7, 2001. He was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on December 20, 2001, and sworn into office on January 17, 2002, by the Honorable Joel A. Pisano, U.S.D.J.

Mount Olive Chamber hosts Breakfast with the Mayor

MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY - The Mount Olive Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual Breakfast with the Mayor on Tuesday January 15, 2008.

Mount Olive Township Mayor David Scapicchio will look back on 2007 and update chamber members on what to expect in 2008.

The breakfast meeting will take place at the Longhorn Steakhouse in the ITC Crossing Shopping Center, starting at 8 a.m.

Dog Park at Turkey Brook Grand Opening

MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY - Mount Olive Township announced today the community Dog Park will hold a Grand Opening ceremony on October 21, 2007 at 10:00am.

Dog owners are eager to explore the the new 'Bark Park' located in Turkey Brook Park. The new park offers approximately 2 acres with dedicated areas for small, large, and disabled dogs.
